Horseback Riding and Trail Rides in the South Cariboo, BC, Canada
Meadow Springs Guest Ranch also offer Accommodation in Cabins

We offer limited horseback riding on the ranch and the rides are fun and adventurous!
We personally guide all of our trail rides and provide instruction for all riders to
ensure that they enjoy their ride! We have horses suited to all riding abilities, and
the size of the groups are small - quite likely just your own party and our wrangler.
Our horses are all kept in top condition all year round and are horses that even
the best cowboy would enjoy riding, and yet are safe for even a first time rider.
We will do rides for the public, by reservation only, but guests that are staying on the
ranch get absolute priority.

Months of operation:
- Please Note: November - April we don't ride
(the trails are too icy and slippery)
- May and June: we ride on weekends only
- July through October: we ride 5 days per week (days may vary)
- Bring your own horse: details here
- Cabin Rentals are available year round. See the Cabins page.
Most of our riding is done in July and August. The rides are generally two hours long
and in the morning. This allows guests to sightsee, take in other local attractions, and/or
go for a swim in the afternoon - it also allows us to go haying. We have a couple of
different rides that we offer, seeing different parts of the ranch each ride. A two hour
ride is $50.00 per horse/person. See our
Rates page.

We spend a lot of time with our guests teaching them about horses - both on the ground
and on the horse's back. We make sure our guests know how to work with the horses
safely and get the most enjoyment possible on a horseback ride.
We encourage our guests to be involved with every aspect of horseback riding, right from,
and including, catching their own horse, leading it to the barn, grooming it, learning
how to and helping saddle and bridle it, and of course how to steer and control it so
they have the most enjoyable ride possible!
Our Photos page, and our
Testimonials page, both reflect how guests have enjoyed
their time with the hosts and with the horses at Meadow Springs Ranch.

The Annual Watch Lake / Green Lake Gymkhanas
Download the Gymkhana Information & Rules
here
Every year on the second Saturday of both July and August there is a Gymkhana held
locally. A Gymkhana is like a small rodeo with games on horseback. The events includes
barrel racing, pole bending, a stake race, a key hole race, musical tires, and sometimes
either a baton race or ribbon race. This event has proven to be one of the most fun times
of the summer - for both the competitors and the spectators. There are grand stands,
a concession, and a beer garden on site.

If we have room in our trailer, and if we have a guest(s) that is interested and capable
of entering, we will take extra horses and allow them to compete - although we consider
our horse entries as a way for a guest(s) to have fun and not be competitive.
If you have your own horses, and are interested in Gymkhanas, this is one of the best
in the province, and at one of the oldest and prettiest gymkhana grounds in the Country!
See the Bring your own horse page.
